The driver confirms the car matches the description, checks your ID and ownership, and pays you on the spot by bank transfer or cash. You sign the paperwork, hand over the keys, and the car is loaded. The whole visit rarely takes more than 20 minutes.
After: 2 minutes online
Lodge the change of ownership on the NZTA website (or the buyer prompts you through it). Done — no more responsibility for the vehicle.
What slows things down
- Missing ownership documents — dig them out early.
